we finally figured out what dilly likes. he loves, i mean REALLY loves, any cooking or cleaning toys! i wonder if i had something to do with it, but i've convinced myself i didn't! i purchased a mini-shopping cart for him to go christmas shopping with me (not to be girlie), but to help him navigate through his own world and learn what grown ups do. honestly, it is also to build this special enduring bond i have with him that i feel i've missed while i was away from work. play is something kids love to do anyways and i'm glad i was able to make our christmas shopping experience fun.
i always encourage "free" play with my boys and limit their television entertainment because i don't believe in leaving a child glued to the television. it's already hard enough being a parent and trying to find balance. lately, our downtime at home have been talking, telling stories, preparing meals and making cookie pop, pillow fight, hide-n-seek, and building legos.
i love the feeling of being a mom and the challenges it brings. i know there are days where it's difficult - but everything i do, i do for them. they're growing up so fast and sooner or later, they'll get married. when that day comes, you know i'll be crying a river. i'll live in the present and not worry about the future for now.
on a side note, my doctor doesn't feel that baby batman will arrive until jan 2012. stay tuned.
